Salvation Mountain is an artwork covering a hill in the Colorado Desert, California, United States. It was built by Leonard Knight to worship god. The building process started in 1980. After the first mountain collapsed he started with the second Salvation Mountain, the one currently standing. Salvation Mountain is known from the movie “Into the wild based on the book by Jon Krakauer. Furthermore the British band Coldplay filmed the music video of their song “Birds” there.
