Point Reyes can be found on the Pacific Coast of northern California, United States. Point Reyes got its name from Portuguese explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo. It is the windiest place on the Pacific Coast and the second foggiest place in North America. Due to the characteristic heavy high fog, it was necessary to build the lighthouse below it. The fog is also a reason that not only one mariner missed the entrance to San Francisco Bay.
