You can find Valdez on the north shore of Port Valdez, a deepwater fjord in Prince William Sound. It was founded in 1898 as part of the Klondike gold rush as men were seeking a debarkation point on their way to the Klondike goldfields. Today you can find around Valdez a lot of activities such as kayaking, hiking and whale watching.
